Session 27
The party continue to explore the abandoned keep, eventually discovering a tower that, using Suna's ability to control the water, they climbed to the top of. From the top of the tower they could see below them a buried city; the island that the Yugs were camped on was the tip of a giant underwater mountain made of debris that seemed to have fallen from above.
Whilst there they were attacked by a number of the water amoeba, who started attacking the tower below them. Sassani Banished two of the amoeba, but the group was forced into a fighting retreat as the tower fell down around them. Rather than risk further confrontations, they decided to retreat back to the surface. After being reminded by Bog that they had agreed to help extract the golden statues, the group descended one final time to retrieve them. Using a combination of Shatter and Animate Object they got some of the statues to carry bits of the others to the bottom of the silo, then extracted them via both magical and more mundane means.
Bog was annoyed that the party would not take the gold any further, and demanded one of them stay behind as proof that the party would stick to their word to return later to assist them. Sassani agreed to stay behind and there was a tearful farewell on the shore as the rest of the party, along with their adopted Yugs, set off on the raft. The sadness didn't alst long, though, as Sassani climbed on the broom just before they raft drifted out of sight and flew out to join them, leaving the angry Yugs behind.
A few more days passed as the raft crossed the rest of the underwater lake, with no more harassment from the elementals. En route, Igsai, Jitmild and Srash began showing some small degree of aptitude with Common. Wei and Sassani encouraged this, and they Yugs began to pick up a few useful words.
On reaching the far side of the island they party was presented with a small cliff, with no sight of what was on top. Using Sassani's broom, the party scouted out the area on the top and located a number of suspicious looking areas. Rather than risk landing unprepared, they began blasting the suspicious areas from the air and were rewarded with discovering a number of stealthy, rock-like creatures. Armed with this knowledge, they snuck up the cliff and ambushed the ambushers, clearing a path from the top of the cliff to pass on further into the cave.
